Mastercard and Riot Games Expand League of Legends Partnership
Financial company Mastercard and developer Riot Games have announced the renewal of their existing multi-year partnership for League of Legends. As a result, Mastercard will remain the official League of Legends World Championship, Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and All-Star. The updated deal also includes sponsorship of the opening ceremonies of the competition. Within the framework of cooperation, the parties will also continue to hold various joint events.
In addition to showcasing the brand in League of Legends esports tournaments, Mastercard will be featured in-game through promotions and logos, as well as on merchandise produced in partnership with publisher Riot Games. The company will also be able to provide its customers with League of Legends-themed co-branded cards that will be offered at banks around the world.
Recall that the financial company has been actively supporting Riot Games and League of Legends since 2018. In addition to Mastercard, the esports discipline is supported by another bank representative - Santander.
Mastercard currently sponsors regional leagues such as the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS), League of Legends European Championship (LEC) and Brazilian League of Legends Championship (CBLOL). In addition, the deal includes the Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC) as of 2020.
Mastercard is also a sponsor of the FlyQuest League of Legends teams, and since 2019 has been a partner of the G2 Esports League of Legends roster.
