IT services management company Amazon Web Services has announced a partnership with the Champion of Champions Tour tournament series hosted by the esports platform GRID Esports. As part of the deal, Amazon Web Services will become the official cloud infrastructure provider for the championship series from 2022 to 2024.

The Champion of Champions Tour series will reportedly use Amazon Web Services data to enhance the broadcast, as well as widgets that add additional context to the data. In addition, the collected data will allow the Champion of Champions Tour to create a specialized tournament center containing a variety of information.

Tom Warburton, CEO of GRID Esports: "We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Amazon Web Services ahead of the launch of the Champion of Champions Tour. Their platform is an essential tool in realizing GRID Esports' vision of bringing a world-class esports tournament to viewers around the world. For Champion of Champions Tou, it's very exciting to use Amazon Web Services as a technology provider as it will allow us to provide a robust, one-of-a-kind experience for the global esports community."

The Champion of Champions Tour is the first stage competition co-hosted by leading esports companies FACEIT, Eden Esports, Relog Media, Black Molly Entertainment, Fantasy Expo and regional organizers commissioned by GRID Esports.

The overall Champion of Champions series system for 2022-2024 is as follows:

  1. 44 open regional qualifiers.
  2. 44 online tournaments.
  3. 11 studio finals.
  4. Global LAN Finals.

GRID Esports and its founding partners have already opened the first matches of a new series of tournaments that will run until January 2024 and offer a combined prize pool of $3.4 million.

Note that earlier the tournament series merged with BitSkins and StreamCards. In turn, Amazon Web Services recently joined forces with publisher Riot Games. The deal also marks Amazon Web Services' second entry into the esports market after partnering with tournament operator EGL to enhance its mobile tournament offering.
