This event differs from other Dota 2 championships in that it has an interesting format. In Captains Draft 4.0, participants of the tournament will play in a special gaming mode that has been created by organizers. In every match, teams have a right to ban or pick any of 27 random heroes (9 heroes for each attribute: (strength, agility, intelligence) that is chosen by a system. Moonduck, that hosts a tournament, have been remembered for hosting unusual tournaments.

As for details of Captains Draft 4.0, a prize pool of the championship is similar to other Dota 2 Minor tournaments, it amounts $300,000 and 300 DPC Points. Eight teams will take part in the event, two of which have received direct invites and other ones will qualify in six regions: North America, South America, Southeast Asia, China, Europe, and CIS.

Captains Mode 4.0 starts with a group stage, in which teams will play by a GSL system, after which they will go to the playoffs with a Double Elimination bracket. The winner earns $108,000 and 150 DPC Points.

Let’s remind that Midas Mode will also be hosted in November, which essence is buying the heroes at the pick stage for the Moonbucks currency that will be given to teams in the beginning of the tournament.
