According to Evans, Talon Esports requested a $1 million loan two months ago, promising repayment within one to two weeks. While the principal was eventually returned nearly two months later, Evans says the agreed interest remains unpaid. He also expressed frustration over being ignored in private messages and criticized the organization for borrowing from others to repay their debts to him.

Evans revealed he had previously invested in Talon Esports and considered co-founder Sean Zhang a personal friend. He said the loan initially came with a low interest rate and a short term, but after delays, it was refinanced at a higher rate.

Talon Esports Responds, Acknowledges Internal Oversight

In response, Sean Zhang admitted that there had been a miscommunication within Talon’s accounting department, which led to the repayment of the main loan but without the accrued interest. He took full responsibility for the oversight and promised that the interest would be paid promptly, citing banking delays due to Hong Kong’s local hours.

Zhang also expressed disappointment that the situation was escalated on social media and not resolved privately. He said he had attempted to reach out to Evans to clear things up and hopes to restore their professional relationship through a respectful dialogue.

Roster Changes Continue at Talon Esports

This controversy comes at a turbulent time for Talon Esports. Recently, two players — Carlo "Kuku" Palad from the Philippines and Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon from Thailand—have departed from the organization’s Dota 2 roster, raising further questions about the organization’s stability ahead of the next competitive season.
