BLAST Slam II: Round 2 Playoff Recap

From February 4 to February 9, 2025, one of the biggest Dota 2 tournaments of the first half of the year, BLAST Slam II, is taking place. The teams have already completed the group stage, determining their starting positions in the playoffs. On February 6, 2025, the second round of the playoffs began, featuring two key matchups: Team Liquid vs. PARIVISION and Team Falcons vs. BB Team. In this article, we’ll break down both matches.

Team Liquid vs. PARIVISION

Round 2 featured two thrilling matches, the first being Team Liquid vs. PARIVISION, which turned out to be an absolute spectacle. As a reminder, all matches are played in a best-of-three (BO3) format, adding even more intensity to the tournament. The first game was completely unexpected, resembling more of a Turbo mode match. PARIVISION had a superior draft, allowing them to dominate their opponents. Dukalis, playing Phoenix, secured 11 kills despite being a support, leading his team to a decisive victory. The final score was 26-8, with the game ending in just 22 minutes.

The second game was far more competitive. Team Liquid proved they were not an easy opponent, utilizing a well-thought-out draft. Their Dark Seer played a crucial role, standing outside of fights while using his abilities to dismantle the enemy team, securing 15 kills. Team Liquid equalized the series with a 42-29 victory in 35 minutes. However, the deciding game went in favor of PARIVISION once again, as they opted for a fast-paced and aggressive draft. The match didn't last long, ending with a 29-10 score in just 27 minutes. As a result, PARIVISION secured a 2-1 victory over Team Liquid and advanced to the quarterfinals of BLAST Slam II, where they will face Nigma Galaxy.

Team Falcons vs. BB Team

The second match of the day featured Team Falcons taking on BB Team. Both teams displayed a highly strategic approach from the very start of the first game. Surprisingly, both sides played defensively, avoiding large team fights and maintaining a cautious playstyle. In a 55-minute-long game, only 45 kills were recorded between both teams. BB Team emerged victorious with a 24-21 score, largely due to their well-coordinated support play, which made laning extremely difficult for their opponents’ core heroes.

The second game followed a similar pattern but saw Team Falcons taking the upper hand. There were slightly more team fights, with most of them going in favor of Falcons. They closed out the game 33-18 in 44 minutes, tying the series at 1-1. In the decisive third game, Team Falcons took control from the beginning. Their coordinated attacks on isolated enemy players across different lanes helped them build and maintain a significant advantage. They dominated the game, winning 35-14. With this 2-1 series victory, Team Falcons advanced to the BLAST Slam II quarterfinals, where they will face Yakult Brothers.
