Dota 2 New Patch: Ascension Night and Kez release
Esports and Dota 2 fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of a new hero and patch. Since the launch of the first Crownfall acts, Valve has been promising a new hero, but kept delaying updates and did not release it. After The International 2024, Valve finally shed some light, announcing a new hero named Kez, who was set to be released alongside Crownfall Act 4. However, a month has passed since the announcement, and still, neither the hero nor the patch has been released. Today, on November 7, 2024, Valve finally shared all the essential information. In this article, we’ll cover what Valve revealed, when the new hero will be released, and much more.
Information about IV act of Crownfall
This year, Dota 2 launched an event called Crownfall, which brought something new and grabbed a lot of attention within the gaming community. In it, players completed various quests and tasks to advance on the map and earn rewards. This event was divided into four acts, each with its own theme, but it wouldn’t be Valve if everything went smoothly.
After the release of Act 1, they delayed the release of Act 2; after Act 2, they delayed Act 3, and now, after Act 3, there’s nothing so far. To recap, Act 1 was released on April 18, and the entire event could have been wrapped up within four months (a month per act), but this is Dota 2. After The International 2024 and the announcement of a new hero, some hints about the release of Crownfall Act 4 started to appear. The most common theory was that it would come out on November 1, but it didn’t happen, causing frustration in the community, even sparking jokes. One of the most popular was, “Act 4 won’t repeat Act 3’s mistake; it just won’t come out.”
Later, players noticed changes in the game code and files, indicating that the release of Act 4 had been postponed from November 1 to December 1. So now, the community has to wait until December 1, and there’s a good chance it might actually be released then.
Ascension Night and Kez release
To the surprise of all players and the gaming community, today, on November 7, 2024, an article titled Ascension Night was published on the official Dota 2 website. Here’s what it says:
“Very soon, a flightless named Kestrel will return from his Icewrack exile. He will reform a Kazurai army from the ashes of the old. He will join his new friends, a band of Oglodi warriors, and the rightful queen to storm the palace of the usurper Imperia. And he will change the history of Skywrath forever.”
There’s also a note:
“This is not that story. Not yet. (That's for tomorrow.)”
With this, Valve has shed light on the release of Act 4 and the new hero. The article states that on the night of November 7-8, an update called Ascension Night will go live in the game, introducing the new hero, Kez. Players are thrilled by this news and are eagerly awaiting the update.
Another pleasant surprise is that comics detailing Kez’s story have also been added to the website. Through these, we can get a glimpse of the hero’s appearance, some of his abilities, and learn about his in-game lore. Experts also suggest that Act 4 of Crownfall might be released along with this update. So congratulations to all Dota 2 fans, and be sure to follow our page for the latest news on the game.
