Valve changed dates of CS:GO Major tournaments in 2020
The Majors are still hosted twice a year, however, other dates were confirmed for 2020 and 2021, unlike previous years. The main CS:GO competitions will be hosted in May and November.
Also, Valve has announced that the time of matches will be comfortable for the majority of players. All main matches will begin not later than at 23:00 (UTC +3).
It’s worth to notice the fact that duration of championships will be shortened to two weeks. IEM XIII Katowice Major 2019, for example, was hosted from February 13 to March 3 (19 days) and StarLadder Berlin Major 2019 will be carried out from August 20 to September 8 (20 days).
There was one unpleasant story with the Berlin tournament. When the organizers announced that the event starts on August 20, the majority of players didn’t have much enthusiasm about it, having criticized the decision, explaining with the absence of rest after a vacation. Valve has decided to change the dates in the following year to avoid such problems.
