Did you know that NAVI could be called WATCH?
Arseniy 'CEH9' Trinozhenko said on his broadcast that "NAVI" was not the only option for a team name with a meaningful decoding of the abbreviation. The team also thought about calling itself WATCH. If Na'Vi ultimately became an abbreviation for Natus Vincere, which in Latin means "Born to Win", then the WATCH abbreviation meant "We are the champion".
It was important for the players that the team name both sounded good in abbreviated form and had a good transcript meaning. Nevertheless, despite a good option, cybersportsmen still settled down with the NAVI option.
The Natus Vincere team was assembled after the KerchNET disband. NAVI included three ex-members of the aforementioned CEH9 team, Zeus and Starix, as well as Edward and markeloff. The five e-sportsmen were supported by Murat 'Arbalet' Tulemaganbetov, a patron and organizer of championships, after which he founded the NAVI e-sports club on December 17, 2009.
