CS2 Update Introduces Cache and Ancient Fixes
Counter-Strike 2 has received a new small update, with Valve focusing entirely on map fixes for Cache and Ancient. While the patch is relatively minor, it addresses several issues that directly impact gameplay clarity and competitive consistency.
Most of the update is dedicated to Cache, which recently returned to the active competitive map pool. Valve adjusted player and grenade collision across the map, helping improve movement consistency and utility interactions during matches.
One of the more important fixes targets Cache’s footstep audio. The developers updated material blending across different surfaces to make footsteps more accurately reflect the terrain players are moving on. Since Cache features a variety of materials and elevation changes, inaccurate sound cues could sometimes create misleading information during competitive rounds.
Valve also closed several map gaps that had been reported by the community.
Cache Changes
- Adjusted player collision
- Adjusted grenade collision
- Improved material blending for more accurate footstep sounds
- Fixed multiple reported gaps
Compared to Cache, Ancient only received one small adjustment in the latest update. Valve fixed a gap in one of the map’s walls, preventing potential visibility or gameplay exploits.
Ancient Changes
- Fixed a gap in the wall
