Twistzz Returns to FaZe Ahead of ESL Pro League Season 22

FaZe Clan have officially confirmed that Canadian rifler Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken is rejoining the team. His return comes just in time for their upcoming campaign at ESL Pro League Season 22. FaZe have not yet revealed which player will make way for Twistzz on the active roster.

The announcement follows Liquid’s recent surprise statement that Twistzz would depart the team after the conclusion of their run at FISSURE Playground 2. Twistzz shared his excitement on X, describing FaZe as “home”:

“Feeling speechless the last days. After FISSURE I will make a longer post. As for now, I'm very happy and thankful to reunite with the organization and the players.”

A Triumphant History with FaZe

This marks a homecoming for Twistzz, who previously played for FaZe from 2021 to 2023 — the most successful stretch of his career. During that time, he helped the team win a Major, IEM Katowice and Cologne, secure the Intel Grand Slam, and earned three placements on HLTV’s Top 20 Players list.

Twistzz’s departure from FaZe at the end of 2023 was partly due to delayed contract negotiations and his wish to play “with a younger leader, a younger core”.

Difficult Years with Liquid

Following his exit from FaZe, Twistzz signed with Team Liquid. However, the next two years were turbulent: Liquid endured constant roster changes, results were inconsistent, and Twistzz’s attempt to transition into the in-game leader role ultimately failed. The team now faces the risk of missing qualification for the upcoming StarLadder Budapest Major.

FaZe Looking to Bounce Back

FaZe themselves have been searching for answers after a string of disappointing tournament results. They recently replaced Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski with Jakub "jcobbb" Pietruszewski in hopes of turning things around. Twistzz’s return is seen as a potential spark to reignite the team’s championship form.
