Former Sangal Esports Player Banned by ESIC for Betting on His Own Team

Former CS2 professional player Ilya “Ganginho” Chernichenko has been handed a three-year ban from competitive play by the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) after being found guilty of betting on matches involving his own team, TEAM NEXT LEVEL.

According to ESIC’s investigation, Ganginho placed 390 bets on his team’s matches, accumulating approximately $20,000 in winnings. As a consequence, he is banned from all ESIC-affiliated tournaments until December 6, 2027, prohibiting him from participating as a player, coach, manager, or commentator. The case has also been forwarded to major tournament organizers and game publishers, including Valve and Riot Games, who may impose further penalties.

In response to the ruling, Ganginho stated that he disagrees with ESIC’s decision but has no plans to appeal.

"I disagree with ESIC's decision, but I do not plan to appeal. Perhaps a lawyer will handle this issue. My life is now connected with something completely different, and it’s not the right time. I do not plan to return to CS." Ganginho

Ganginho retired from professional CS2 in October 2024 after a five-year career, during which he competed for Sangal Esports, Betera, and Team Next Level (TNL).
