The Origins of Bogdan’s Law

The concept dates back to 2016, when a heated debate arose between streamer Steel and player Bogdan during a match. Bogdan argued that Steel should drop his AWP to him since Bogdan had low health, while Steel still had full HP. Steel refused, but the community quickly took Bogdan’s side—even s1mple from NaVi supported the logic. The backlash was so strong that Steel eventually had to apologize.

How Bogdan’s Law Works

The principle is simple:

➡️ If you have full HP and are holding an AWP, you should drop it to a teammate with low HP.

Here’s why:

  • The AWP has an extremely low Time-To-Kill (TTK)—a single shot can eliminate an enemy instantly.
  • Rifles like the AK-47 or M4 have a higher TTK, meaning they require multiple shots to secure a kill.

Since a low-HP player is already at high risk of dying, giving them the AWP ensures they still have a fighting chance. Their survival will depend solely on reaction speed rather than sustained gunfights, where they’re more likely to get eliminated before making an impact.

Why You Should Follow Bogdan’s Law

Mastering this rule can significantly improve your game sense and reputation within the Counter-Strike community. Following Bogdan’s Law means:

You increase your team’s overall chances of winning.

You demonstrate strategic thinking and selflessness.

You enhance coordination and communication with your teammates.

So next time you’re in a match, remember: if your teammate has low HP, hand them the AWP—it’s a simple move that can turn the tide of a round.
