CS2 Benchmarks Reveal 10% FPS Drop Since Launch, According to Dataminer
Dataminer and CS2 enthusiast Thour has shared the results of performance benchmarks he has been running on Counter-Strike 2 since its release in late September 2023. According to his findings, the average FPS has decreased across all maps over the past year. While Thour used the same hardware setup for each test, he did not specify the exact methods he used in his posts on X (formerly Twitter).
The reported FPS drops ranged from 6% to 15%, with an overall average reduction of 10% compared to the original version of the game. However, it's important to note that these results apply only to Thour’s PC configuration, and without details on his testing methods, it's unclear whether this performance drop is widespread.
Counter-Strike 2 officially launched on September 27, 2023, following six months of beta testing. The game is largely a recreation of CSon the Source 2 engine, featuring new improvements such as enhanced lighting and shadows, volumetric smokes, and the subtick system. Since its release, multiple patches have been rolled out to address optimization issues.
