ESL does not plan to organize national championships for CS2
ESL has announced the conclusion of its ESL National Championship tournament series as it transitions to CS2, which was officially communicated on their website.
In ESL's statement, they highlight their attempts to merge two parallel ecosystems for CS: the national format, akin to traditional sports leagues, and a global system without borders. However, over time, they have come to the conclusion that conducting championships without specific country affiliations is more convenient, providing a more dynamic and flexible foundation for ESL Pro Tour.
This year, the final season of ESL National Championship will take place in Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. However, starting from the next year, these tournaments will no longer be held. In the countries of Benelux, France, Spain, and Turkey, there will also be no national championships this year.
Nevertheless, the company will organize local tournaments with qualification stages for Polish and German teams, which will compete for participation in the IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne championships, respectively.
Furthermore, ESL is ready to offer support to third-party tournament organizers who wish to conduct their own national championships.
