CS2 outperforms CS:GO in headshot counts on the pro scene
The Reddit user with the username Away_Active7903 conducted an interesting study comparing the headshot percentage in major tournaments for the games CS2 and CS:GO. For their analysis, they took the results of the IEM Sydney 2023 and IEM Rio 2023 competitions, which had a six-month gap between them and represent different versions of the Counter-Strike game.
The author focused on the number of headshot kills, considering only frags by riflers – players who use automatic weapons. It's important to note that the statistics were gathered based on the analysis of 3937 rounds, which lends the study a reasonable level of accuracy.
The results of the analysis turned out to be quite intriguing. In CS2, the headshot percentage was slightly higher, standing at 61.1%, compared to 55.6% in CS:GO. These numbers suggest that players in CS2 are more successful in landing headshots on their opponents, which could be a result of differences in game mechanics or weapon balance.
It's important to emphasize that this study is limited to just two specific tournaments, and the results may vary depending on specific events and changes in the games. Nevertheless, it raises interesting questions about how CS2 differs from its predecessor CS:GO and what changes in game mechanics and weapon balance might influence the success of players on the professional stage.
