s1mple is ESL Player of the Year 2022

Tournament operator ESL has announced the winner of the "Best Player of 2022" nomination. According to the tournament operator, it turned out to be s1mple, the current sniper of the NAVI team. It should be noted that the ceremony took place between the semi-final matches of IEM Katowice 2023. In this nomination, the Ukrainian beat many other representatives of the scene, including ZywOo, broky, NiKo and sh1ro.

ESL noted the achievements of the Ukrainian, who was also recently recognized as the best player of the last year according to the authoritative portal HLTV. This achievement was the third in s1mple's career, which is an absolute record on the scene.

We also note that the NAVI team lost to Heroic with a score of 0:2, thus being eliminated from IEM Katowice 2023.

s1mple and NAVI had a rather controversial season. On the one hand, the team became the champion of BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2022 and Intel Extreme Masters Road to Rio 2022: European RMR B, and also reached the finals of PGL Major Antwerp 2022 and Intel Extreme Masters XVII - Cologne. On the other hand, NAVI and s1mple himself failed in the second half of the season, including the Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major 2022.

Nevertheless, according to the results of the last season, the Ukrainian sniper was recognized as the best player in BLAST Premier Spring Final 2022 and IEM Cologne 2022, and also became the EVP in the following tournaments: Intel Extreme Masters XVI - Katowice, ESL Pro League Season 15, PGL Major Antwerp 2022, ESL Pro League Season 15, ESL Pro League Season 16 and Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major 2022.
