fnatic Rising wins WePlay Academy League Season 5

WePlay Academy League Season 5 has come to an end. As part of the championship, which was held online from July 25 to August 14, fourteen youth teams from Europe, the CIS, Turkey and South America fought for a total prize pool of $100,000. The winner of the tournament was the fnatic Rising team, which in the grand final was stronger than Spirit Academy with a score of 2:0 (Mirage - 16:14; Inferno - 16:1).

It is noteworthy that the European team started the championship a week later than the others, presenting a new sniper at the very flag. However, this did not stop fnatic Rising from getting eight victories in the group stage and reaching the final part of WePlay Academy League Season 5 directly.

Having received almost a week of rest, SheddaN's wards confidently burst into the championship finals, where they first dealt with Astralis Talent (2:1) and BIG Academy (2:0), and then outplayed Spirit Academy (2:0), thanks to which they became the winners of WePlay Academy League Season 5. Thanks to this victory, the European team earned a cash prize of $45,000.

The final duel of WePlay Academy League Season 5 started on the Mirage map, which became the choice of Spirit Academy. Throughout the map, the teams showed equal CS, but at the very end, fnatic Rising managed to show character and take the lead in the series — 16:14.

Then the teams moved to the Inferno map, where there was no more intrigue. As a result, the European team played two very strong halves, thus defeating their opponent on the way to victory in the championship — 16:1.

Note that this is the first time in the history of the WePlay Academy League championship series when a team that is not called MOUZ NXT becomes the winner. Recall that the previous four seasons were held by the academy of the MOUZ organization.
