shox reveals reasons for leaving Team Liquid
shox has revealed his reasons for leaving Team Liquid. On Twitter, the 30-year-old French esportsman noted the discomfort of being far from his homeland as the main factor that prevented him from staying in the North American team.
Hi all! As you can see from Team Liquid's announcement, I moved to the team's bench. It was important for me to make a short review of these 6 months spent with the team and explain the reasons for my choice.
When I started discussing the conditions with Team Liquid, I liked the sports and human components of the project. My main goal was to convey as much of the experience that I have accumulated over the years as Europe was ahead in CS compared to the US and I wanted to help them catch up and become the most competitive region in the current meta.
It was decided that I would be in the US for two specific periods of three and two months in 2022. I discussed this with my wife. We thought this could be a rewarding life experience for me, her and our baby. A new culture, new ways of thinking and way of life could only enrich us. We were ready for this "American dream".
The worst part was probably the RMR tournament with all the last minute changes from Valve that forced the tournament operator to change their plans creating a lot of extra travel, problems and stress.
As a result, I live my life in France, but I have a life and plans in America, which only complicates the situation. I'm always on the move, I don't have time to rest and recover from a busy schedule. I'm either at a bootcamp, or at tournaments, or at a media shoot, or in the US at an RMR tournament and other qualifiers. Having no home in the USA, I was forced to live either in a hotel or in the house of the manager, whom I thank from the bottom of my heart, because, knowing my situation, he did everything to make my trip as pleasant as possible.
In terms of sport, as in all teams, there are difficulties, and I gave my best, despite all the circumstances that are difficult to manage. During ESL Pro League Season 15, we saw the European training pay off as we beat Heroic and almost passed the NIP.
After this tournament, we had to go back to the United States, because we had to qualify, and the players from America live there, and they obviously go home. I saw our level go down when we were there because the American training is far from the European level. All the work done by the team gradually came to naught.
I continued to give all my best, although I felt very tired from all these ups and downs. After the major, I burned out and went home as quickly as possible. I realized that from the beginning of January until the Major, I was at home for about 25 days. And for half of this period, I trained according to the American schedule from 7 pm to 2-3 am. As a result, the human aspect, which requires a balance in my life, which I did not have for 6 months, made me ask to be benched.
I would like to thank oSee, nitr0, NAF, EliGE and AdreN for the moments we shared together, because even if it was a very difficult period for me, I will keep in mind the positive we experienced and it was nice to meet you.
Recall that shox joined Team Liquid at the end of last year. In six months, the Frenchman helped the team qualify for PGL Major Antwerp 2022. However, last week the organization moved shox to inactive.
The next championship for the North American team will be Intel Extreme Masters XVII - Cologne, which will take place next month. At the same time, Team Liquid will start their performances immediately from the group stage.
The Team Liquid roster for Intel Extreme Masters XVII - Cologne is as follows:
- EliGE.
- NAF.
- oSee.
- nitr0.
- YEKINDAR (stand-in).
- daps (coach).
