GeT_RiGhT does not intend to resume his esports career
The legendary Swedish player GeT_RiGhT in an interview for the Inven Global portal said that he did not intend to resume his esports career. The 31-year-old Swedish player says he's fine with a career as a streamer as he doesn't plan on spending much of his time training.
Competition was a part of my life, but it doesn't suit me anymore. Never say never, but now I'm sure of my desires. I don't want to restart my career. I'm not interested in training and tournaments. Of course, I miss watching major championships, remembering the excitement that I experienced on stage. At the same time, I remember all the efforts and time spent on perfecting my game. At the moment, I am completely satisfied with the current position of the streamer.
I don't think I would play too badly. If I were in my peak shape now, I would probably be in the top twenty, and not in the top 5, top 3 or top 1, as it was in the past. It's about how I move, aim and throw grenades - I've never been known to use grenades well, and now there are a lot more players who are good at it. They know very well which grenades they can throw at any moment and how they can help the team in different situations.
Since players are constantly adapting to the meta, there will always be similar pages in the tactics books of different teams. However, there are always many details that can change at any time, because the players make their own decisions or the team deliberately rebuilds something within the framework of a standard, at first glance, round.
I think it is on these three factors that I would have to work the most. But in the past, I have adapted to the meta easily, especially in important matches, so I doubt that I would have problems with this.
Interestingly, GeT_RiGhT also added that his decision to put his career on pause was indirectly influenced by poor results at Dignitas, after which he received physical threats.
In recent years, I have felt that people treat me differently than before. Every time I received a private message, tweet, or whatever, I was extremely scared to watch, because sometimes there were death threats because I did not perform at the proper level.
GeT_RiGhT performed on the professional stage from 2003 to 2021. During this time, the 31-year-old Swedish esportsman played for the Ninjas in Pajamas, SK Gaming, Giants Gaming and Fnatic teams. In particular, GeT_RiGhT became the winner of ESL One: Cologne 2014 and StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2, and also reached the finals of ESL Major Series One Katowice 2014, DreamHack Winter 2014 and ESL One: Katowice 2015.
In total, the esportsman earned over $600,000 in prize money, and was also named the best player of the year twice (2013 and 2014).
The last team in GeT_RiGhT's career was Dignitas, for which he played from September 2020 to January 2021. However, the 31-year-old Swedish player then decided to focus his efforts on streaming activities.
