Twistzz criticizes players who switched to VALORANT
Canadian player Twistzz, who currently represents the colors of FaZe Clan, gave an interesting interview for the Dust2 portal, in which he criticized esports players who switched to VALORANT for easy money. They also discussed the current form of the team, which made it to the playoffs of PGL Major Antwerp 2022.
It is incredibly hard to be the first team in the world and will meet in the first round with a team from the top five. How did you mentally prepare for the game with ENCE?
To be honest, we thought it would be Overpass, but in the end they decided to play an attack on Mirage. So yeah, maybe we're not ready to play Mirage with the top teams yet. Although we had a good game plan, I think we made a few mistakes individually. One lost duel or something like that can change the course of the round, and we had many such rounds, so we lost ourselves. I think we merged several times situations like: three by three, two by two. I think it depends on the different days and situations in which we approach retakes. So yes, it's just that next time there will be a different game, and there won't be the same errors.
Obviously, the region suffered losses after the release of VALORANT and after various other events taking place in the region. What do you think about the current state of the scene in North America?
You will not be surprised by my words, but I must say that the current state of the region is terrible. I mean, we've seen a lot of young players jump into VALORANT because they just wanted easy money. They see a new game and see that everyone is moving into it, there is easy money. I think that the transition is due to the money spinning in the discipline from Riot Games, and the work ethic in CS:GO was not there for that.
You may be one of the few North American players who have a good chance of winning the Major, or at least being the favorite for the finals. How do you feel about it and do you think there is something special about giving North America another Major win?
For me, this is a very special feeling, but I think about more than that. I think about my teammates who have been chasing this major for so long, they have been close to it several times, so I know what it must be like for them to be in the same position again as they were a few years ago. I feel like they want to do it right now.
As for me, I think I was the favorite to win only once, and that was at the StarLadder Berlin Major, and to be honest, our environment in the team did not allow us to become champions. There's definitely a "we're here to fucking win this tournament" feeling this time around, we're here to win a major trophy for the first time in our entire career. We want to win more than ever.
Immediately after the interview, part of the community condemned Twistzz for his remarks. The Canadian himself has already apologized, but a structured comment was given by daps, who managed to play both CS and VALORANT.
As someone who has seen CS in its current state in North America and VALORANT there, I can no longer be silent on this. Choosing between 10-30 thousand per month in VALORANT or living through FPL and Cash Cup is not difficult. Most of the people who switched to VALORANT weren't and won't be paid that kind of money in CS.
It remains to follow the development of events and wait for a response from other representatives of the North American scene on both sides.
In turn, Twistzz, together with FaZe Clan, is preparing for the start of the playoffs of PGL Major Antwerp 2022. In the quarterfinals of the major, the team will play with the Swedes from NIP.
