ESIC Officially Confirms Work on Investigating Coaching Bug Use Cases

The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) has officially confirmed its work on investigating cases of the use of the so-called coaching bug on the professional stage. This is reported by the Dust2.us portal, citing statements by Stephen Hann, director of partnerships and communications at ESIC.

In his speech, the head of ESIC emphasized that "famous people are involved" in the case, which, in theory, could seriously hit the competitive scene. While no release date has been given for the report, early rumors point to May 9th, the start date for PGL Major Antwerp 2022.

Hann also talked about ESIC communication with developers. According to him, communication between companies is difficult because Valve does not want to significantly interfere in the regulation of the competitive scene. He added that now Valve does not intend to revise the lifetime bans for participation in their tournaments for some coaches who appeared in the first ESIC report a year and a half ago.

While the investigation is ongoing, some media outlets are revealing a number of details of the upcoming report. At least two well-known specialists were named - maLeK and peacemaker, who is currently trained by Evil Geniuses and Imperial Esports, respectively. However, 52 specialists appear in the investigation, some of which are headed by the strongest teams in the world.
