Valve intends to merge regions in the upcoming RMR cycle
According to the HLTV portal, Valve intends to unite the regions in the upcoming RMR cycle. As a result of the changes, three tournaments will be held before the Major in Europe and the CIS, South and North America, and Asia and Oceania, respectively. Two majors are expected to take place in 2022, in May and November, however the details of both tournaments are currently unknown.
The day before, the main guidelines for organizing the RMR cycle in the current season were leaked. The main subject of discussion was the new rule, which states that "a team's region is determined by the nationality of the majority of its players." This rule did not exist during the previous RMR cycle, as teams were free to choose which region they would compete in.
According to HLTV sources, Valve decided to implement the new rules along with the desire to hold RMR tournaments in LAN format only in three large regions, uniting America into one region, Europe and the CIS, as well as Asia and Oceania. At the same time, if the championships cannot be held on the local network, the number of regions will again be increased to six.
The number of slots that will be distributed between regions will remain unchanged. While the unified Americas region will offer six seats in the Major, Europe and the CIS will be given 16 seats at once. At the same time, only two teams from Asia and Oceania will qualify for the championship. At the same time, the distribution of places by stages of the Major should remain unchanged relative to the previous RMR cycle.
Possible distribution of slots for the Major:
- Europe and CIS — 7 Legends, 6 Challengers, 3 Contenders.
- America - 1 Legends, 2 Challengers, 3 Contenders.
- Asia and Oceania - 2 Contenders.
According to unconfirmed information that appeared on the network the day before, the distribution of rating points between teams will take the following form:
Place | Major | RMR Tournament |
one | 1600 | 3200 |
2 | 1500 | 3000 |
3 | 1350 | 2800 |
4 | 1350 | 2600 |
5 | 1050 | 2400 |
6 | 1050 | 2200 |
7 | 1050 | 2000 |
eight | 1050 | 1800 |
9 | 450 | 1600 |
10 | 450 | 1400 |
eleven | 450 | 1200 |
12 | 450 | 1000 |
thirteen | 450 | 800 |
14 | 450 | 600 |
15 | 450 | 400 |
sixteen | 450 | 200 |
The rules also state that only the coach can be near the team during the matches. At the same time, he cannot influence the team's game in any way during the round, with the exception of a tactical break or a pause between maps.
