DMZ: Recon Arrives in COD Mobile on December 12 — A Full Tactical Extraction Experience on Mobile

Activision Publishing, Inc. has officially revealed that the new DMZ: Recon mode will arrive in Call of Duty: Mobile on December 12. First showcased during Call of Duty NEXT back in September, this tactical extraction experience is finally making its way to mobile devices.

A high-stakes extraction mode comes to CODM

CODM players are in for a treat, as DMZ: Recon introduces a tactical extraction-style challenge set on the brand-new Serpent Island map. Here, you can complete contracts, outmaneuver enemy squads and hostile AI, and extract valuable loot to upgrade your gear with every successful run.

For those unfamiliar, DMZ: Recon is inspired by the hugely popular DMZ mode from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone. And while Warzone Mobile shut down on May 18, this new mode brings a similar thrill directly to CODM.

How the mode plays

DMZ: Recon is a PvPvE extraction mode: you infiltrate Serpent Island, gather valuable items, complete your objectives, and attempt to extract before things spiral out of control. Tension ramps up quickly—if you die before extraction, you lose everything you brought and everything you found. The pressure is real, and the competition is fierce.

The newly released trailer looks impressive, suggesting that CODM has implemented the mode with care and attention to detail. Many players, myself included, are eager to jump in on December 12. It brings back strong memories of the COVID era, when I spent hours grinding Warzone with friends. Now, I’m excited to relive that feeling—this time on mobile.
