Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Introduces Major Dexterity Perk Overhaul
Treyarch Studios has officially confirmed a highly requested change to the Dexterity Perk in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, following extensive community feedback from the recent open beta. The update marks one of the most notable adjustments to the game’s movement system ahead of its November 14 launch.

Earlier this month, players had the opportunity to test Black Ops 7 during the open beta and provide direct feedback to Treyarch. Among the most discussed topics were movement mechanics and the Dexterity Perk, which previously granted the ability to aim down sights (ADS) while sliding, diving, and wall jumping. Many players felt these abilities should be part of the base movement system — and Treyarch has now agreed.
In a recent development update, the studio confirmed that these Dexterity features will now be default abilities available to every player. The perk itself will still exist for those who want “maximum fluidity,” but it will no longer be required to ADS while performing advanced movements.

The overhaul to the Dexterity Perk is just one of several gameplay refinements coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Treyarch also announced the removal of Tactical Sprint as a standard feature — a long-standing community request. Instead, Tac Sprint will now exist as a separate perk, allowing players to customize their movement preferences without forcing the mechanic into the base gameplay.
Building upon the omnimovement system first introduced in Black Ops 6, players can now run, jump, dive, and slide in any direction, while wall jumping remains an integral part of the new high-mobility design. The goal is to create faster, smoother, and more flexible combat encounters, whether in close-quarters skirmishes or open firefights.
Other Confirmed Beta Feedback Changes
Treyarch’s update also outlined several gameplay refinements:
- Increased footstep volume for better sound awareness.
- Reduced slide speed and distance for balance and clarity.
- Consolidation of multiple multiplayer perks for cleaner customization.
- Ongoing tuning of aim assist, including both rotation aim assist and the requirement for right-stick movement toward targets when using controllers.
Additionally, Treyarch reassured fans that a detailed blog post will be released before launch, providing full breakdowns of maps, modes, weapons, progression systems, and further aim assist adjustments.
