Riot Games announced the first esports season of Valorant
Riot Games will host competitions in all regions, and at the end of the season, the top players will face the final Valorant World Championship.
Whalen Roselle, head of esports at Riot Games, said the following:
"The Champions Tour is another step towards Valorant becoming a global esports discipline that will impress fans. In recent years, we have analyzed the feedback from players, teams, fans, and talked with potential partners. We are very pleased to finally open the first official esports season. Our main focus is to support and develop talent around the world. Players and fans alike wanted the event to be big and important. This is what the Valorant Champions Tour series will be like. "
The entire ranking season will be divided into three global stages. The initial stage is the Challengers. In it, the teams will compete with their fellow countrymen in the local divisions. The regions will be Europe, Asia, Australia, North America, South America and even Africa.
The best teams of the Challengers stage will go to the next stage - Masters. In these international competitions, teams will compete for rating points that will help them take their place in the most elite league - Champions. The latest in the world of Valorant equates to what we used to call the World Championship in League of Legends or The International in the Dota 2 world.
Anyone can try their hand at making their way to the Challengers League, as Riot Games will hold an open qualifying round. The final stage of the first Valorant ranked season will take place at the end of 2021.
