Ben Affleck Playfully Criticizes Recent Valorant Nerfs at Valorant Champions Event
During a surprise appearance at Valorant Champions, Ben Affleck voiced his lighthearted discontent over the recent nerfs in the game. The acclaimed actor took a moment to discuss Valorant's 7.04 patch during the major esports event of the year. This update brought about significant changes, including a substantial nerf to the Valorantagent Jett.
Jett, known for her agility and movement-enhancing abilities, has maintained a prominent position across all Valorant game modes since the game's open beta in April 2020. With her capacity to outmaneuver adversaries and set up swift ambushes, Jett has been pivotal for gaining map control and probing enemy defenses. Despite enduring multiple rounds of nerfs, Jett's dominance in the meta might now be waning, thanks to the impactful adjustments brought by the Valorant 7.04 update.
Ben Affleck has now joined the ranks of players expressing disappointment about these changes. The actor's critique of the nerf occurred at the 2023 Valorant Champions, where he attended the Los Angeles tournament with his son, Samuel. While interacting with Shannon Williams, the actress who provides the voice for Jett, Affleck's son suggested that his dad could main Jett. In response, Affleck humorously pointed out, "Yeah, but then they nerfed Jett." The actor's comment, caught in a video of the interaction shared on social media, received enthusiastic agreement from Williams. She later took to Twitter to jokingly thank Affleck for reminding her about the recent nerf that potentially impacts her character's viability.
Affleck's light-hearted jesting about the game didn't stop there. During an interview at the tournament, he revealed his own gaming habits, mentioning that he alternates between playing KAY/O and Raze. Affleck humorously referred to himself as "a little promiscuous" when it comes to selecting his favorite agent.
Affleck's appearance wasn't the only celebrity cameo at the event; Elon Musk also made an appearance during the Valorant Champions Tour finale. However, Musk received a less-than-friendly reception from attendees, who responded with boos and calls to "bring back Twitter," referencing the recent rebranding of the social media platform to X. The tournament concluded with Evil Geniuses defeating Paper Rex 3-1, crowning the former as the Valorant world champions, marking a significant achievement three years after the game's initial release.
