Over 150 clubs around the world have signed up to join the VALORANT Partner League
According to George Geddes, over 150 esports organizations have submitted offers to Riot Games for the opportunity to join the VALORANT Partner Program next year.
Just over 200 organizations expressed tentative interest, but some were unable to provide additional information to support their application. However, out of the 150 remaining, only a small number of teams will be able to partner with Riot Games.
According to the source, more applications were submitted to the North American VALORANT league than to join the LCS in 2018, which introduced franchising for the North American League of Legends.
While a $10 million buy-in was required for selected teams to join the LCS, this time teams won't have to shell out millions. There will be no buy-in to the VALORANT Partner League and almost all organizations can apply.
A maximum of 10 teams will compete in the North America, Brazil and Latin America franchise league starting next year. However, this number is not final and may change.
Teams like Sentinels, Cloud9, 100 Thieves, Version1, TSM, T1, CLG, Shopify Rebellion, The Guard, OpTic Gaming, XSET, and more have already reported submissions.
Organizations have also been allowed to apply for an additional region if needed, according to multiple sources. For example, G2 Esports has applied to join the European and American leagues.
