Daredevil: Born Again Officially Ends After Season 3

In mid-2018, all Marvel fans who watched the comic-book-based series on Netflix were disappointed: it was announced that Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil—and, in February of the following year, The Punisher and Jessica Jones—had been canceled after several seasons. Fortunately, Marvel Studios regained the rights to the characters in November 2020, and the heroes were gradually incorporated into the MCU, which was a very welcome development.

The culmination of all this was the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, which was released this spring and brought back Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter, and Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter. Filming for the third season has already wrapped, and it's been revealed other characters who previously appeared in Netflix series have also returned, namely Iron Fist (Finn Jones) and Elektra (Élodie Yung). However, fans recently experienced a flashback to 2018 once again.

THR has published a new report confirming the third season of Daredevil: Born Again, set to premiere in March of next year, will be the final one. Additionally, the source adds the series' showrunner, Dario Scardapane left the project even before post-production—which is currently underway— and this does not seem like a good sign. The decision not to renew Born Again for a fourth season is reportedly due to the poor reception of the second season and Marvel’s plans to discontinue live-action series on Disney+.

Despite the cancellation of Daredevil: Born Again, THR also notes Marvel Studios is currently developing 3–5 series, one of which is titled Zodiac and is described as a spy thriller.

As for Daredevil and other characters—specifically, the Defenders, who return in the third season of Born Again—it's been reported the group of heroes will appear in Avengers: Secret Wars, the upcoming MCU crossover set to be released in 2027, which could serve as a reboot of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s possible that these characters will also appear in other films, as was the case with the Punisher, who appeared in Spider-Man: Brand New Day this summer.

Additionally, Avengers: Endgame—Encore, an extended version of the original film released in 2019, will premiere this week. It will include several new scenes and even post-credits scenes that set up events for Avengers: Doomsday—the next major MCU crossover, set to be out this December. Recently, some details about the post-credit scenes have also been revealed.
