Sony has released the latest software update for the PS4 system
The 11.00 update for the PS4 introduces the feature of logging into the console without using a password via the PlayStation app.
Sony announced, "On your mobile device, you'll be able to scan a QR code to log in, similar to the method on the PS5. Additionally, some authentication steps can also utilize notifications through the PS app."
Furthermore, players can now see emoji reactions to messages, and Sony has improved the message design and usability on certain screens.
This PS4 update was released concurrently with a major update for the PS5 system.
It adds support for HDMI devices with Dolby Atmos technology, such as soundbars, TVs, or home theater systems. This enables the console to transmit the 3D Audio effects from the PS5 to Atmos devices by including overhead channels for creating immersive sound.
New accessibility features have also been introduced, including the ability to assign a second controller as an "assistant controller" for a single account, as well as the option to enable haptic feedback while navigating the PS5 system menu.
PlayStation Remote Play is now supported on devices running Android TV OS 12, and new voice commands are available for users in the US and the UK.
Today, Sony will host a new State of Play presentation at 2:00 PM PT/ 5:00 PM ET/ 10:00 PM BST/ 11:00 PM CEST.
The company has stated that the broadcast will focus on games from independent and third-party developers worldwide and will feature updates for games that were previously announced and are coming to PlayStation consoles.
