The "Metro" author was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment for speaking out against the Russian invasion
Dmitry Glukhovsky, the renowned author of the book that served as the basis for the creation of the game "Metro 2033" and who contributed to the subsequent parts "Metro: Last Light" and "Metro: Exodus," has been sentenced to an eight-year imprisonment by a Moscow court, as reported by the Associated Press. However, it should be noted that Glukhovsky is currently abroad and was sentenced in absentia.
Glukhovsky has strongly expressed his criticism of the actions of the Kremlin. In October 2022, he was designated as a "foreign agent."
In April 2022, after he had already left Russia, Glukhovsky wrote: "The war in Ukraine, initiated by Putin, is becoming more horrifying and inhumane with each passing day, and the reasons for which it began appear increasingly insignificant and false."
Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, its lawmakers enacted a law that imposes punishments of up to 15 years of imprisonment for disseminating "fake" information contradicting the official Russian version of events.
Earlier, Glukhovsky announced his plans to release a new installment in the post-apocalyptic "Metro" series. In 2019, he stated on social media: "The 'Metro' game series will be continued. We are working on the plot."
