Twitch implemented changes to its rules for streamers, but after widespread criticism, the platform decided to revert all the new updates
The rules for streaming on the Twitch platform have been updated. The company has prohibited the use of video ads, banners, or audio ads for promoting products and services.
Initially, it was announced that streamers could place advertising banners only covering 3% of the screen size. However, the platform's administration did not explain the reasons for such drastic changes in content monetization rules. As a result, almost all esports tournament streams did not comply with the new requirements and continued to display ads during breaks between matches.
Many well-known Twitch streamers immediately criticized these rules. Asmongold called for boycotting the platform and considering offers from other websites. Within a few hours, Twitch administration apologized to the streamers and stated that they do not intend to restrict their collaboration with sponsors.
