Team China will perform at PUBG Nations Cup 2022 online
The organizers of PUBG Nations Cup 2022 wrote a message to the fans on their official website and made announcements in various media regarding the features of Team China's participation in the upcoming event.
Team China has reported concerns related to COVID-19, due to which the club's management cannot allow players to attend this event. PUBG Corporation made concessions to Team China representatives.
The organizers mentioned that it is very important for them that the spectators of the tournament experience the thrill along with the participants of the championship, but no one canceled the precautionary measures:
Our goal for PNC 2022 was an on-site event for both players and fans to enjoy. We reviewed every possible method we could think of to achieve this for the grand return of the Nation’s Cup. In the end, the pandemic-related travel restrictions forced us to have to consider online participation over in-person.
PUBG Corp recalled that teams in China are particularly affected by COVID-19:
В Шанхае, где расположено большинство команд PCL PUBG Esports, команды сталкиваются с постоянными проблемами пандемии, и им даже пришлось преобразовать PCL Spring в онлайн-турнир в середине сезона. Хотя мы все надеемся вскоре вернуться к некоторому подобию нормальной жизни, реальность такова, что мы должны уважать местную политику каждой страны.
PUBG Esports have named the conditions under which Team China will have to play if they want to take part in the event:
- All players will need to gather in one place during the game at the Pinnacle Cup Championship
- All designated personnel and the referee will be required to be near the players in order for the competition to be fair.
- Cybersportsmen will have to perform on the same computers that will be in the arena of the tournament. The organizers will provide all the necessary equipment for Team China
- Team China's online participation should not affect the Bangkok arena in any way
Before making such a serious announcement, PUBG Corporation offered the teams to hold test matches in order to understand how teams can get along with online and to understand how different the connection delay will be for players from Team China. Test matches were held for 8 days and the connection speed with Guangzhou, where Team China will play, showed a result of 40-60 ms. Players from Bangkok, in turn, have a ping of 20-40 ms. Tournament organizers have tried to do everything possible to minimize the delay between sending and receiving packets from players to servers, which, in their opinion, should not interfere with fair competition. In addition, PUBG Esports asked all participants if anyone is against Team China playing online. All the teams agreed that under the circumstances this was a necessary measure and, despite this, the tournament can be held in full force without any changes.
PUBG Nations Cup 2022 will be held from June 16 to 19 in Bangkok. The venue will be the concert hall in the ICONSIAM shopping center. The total prize fund of the championship is $500,000, and 16 teams from all over the world will distribute it. The winner will take home the main prize of $100,000 while the runner-up and bronze medalist will each earn $58,000 and $50,000.
