Overwatch 2 Unveils G.I. Joe Crossover Skins and In-Game Event, Launching July 1

The long-anticipated G.I. Joe collaboration is officially heading to Overwatch 2, bringing with it five themed skins and a limited-time in-game event. Starting July 1, players will be able to unlock new cosmetics that reimagine some of Overwatch’s iconic heroes as characters from the G.I. Joe universe.

All G.I. Joe Collaboration Skins in Overwatch 2

The crossover introduces five unique skins that blend the worlds of Overwatch and G.I. Joe:

• Snake Eyes Genji
• Scarlett Freja
• Destro Doomfist
• Baroness Widowmaker
• Cobra Commander Reaper

In this crossover, members of Talon—Reaper, Doomfist, and Widowmaker—take on the roles of Cobra villains, while Genji and Freja join forces as G.I. Joe operatives. Each skin will come with a full set of themed cosmetics, including voice lines, highlight intros, emotes, sprays, name cards, and victory poses, bringing the crossover to life with vivid detail.

Crossover Dates and Event Details

The G.I. Joe event will run from July 1 through July 14. During this time, players can participate in exclusive in-game challenges across Quick Play, Competitive, or Stadium modes. Completing these tasks will earn players rewards such as:

• A G.I. Joe-inspired weapon charm
• Signature voice lines and sprays
• 25,000 Battle Pass XP to help level up through the Season 17 progression track

This collaboration follows the launch of Overwatch 2’s Season 17 on June 24, which had already teased crossover content on the horizon.

Skin Pricing and Bundle Information

While Blizzard has yet to announce official pricing for the G.I. Joe skins, they are expected to align with pricing from past collaborations. Based on precedent, players can likely expect the following:

• Individual Bundles: 2,500 Overwatch Coins (approx. $25 USD)
• Mega Bundle (All Skins & Cosmetics): 5,900 Overwatch Coins (approx. $59 USD)

Each bundle is expected to include not only the skin but also themed accessories like player icons, name cards, emotes, and more.

Additional Season 17 Rewards: Free Loot Boxes

In addition to the G.I. Joe event, Overwatch 2 is currently offering players a chance to earn free Loot Boxes:

• Now through July 7: Earn 1 Normal and 1 Epic Loot Box via Twitch Drops
• Until July 1: Complete in-game challenges for the Powered Up event to unlock four additional Epic Loot Boxes

Note: While G.I. Joe collaboration items won't appear in these loot boxes, players still have a chance to obtain other crossover content from Blizzard universes, including World of Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo skins.
