Overwatch 2 Fan Creates Stunning Dr. Eggman Skin Concept for Wrecking Ball
A talented Overwatch 2 fan has designed a Dr. Eggman skin concept for Wrecking Ball. Wrecking Ball, also known as Hammond, is one of Overwatch 2's tanks and is a genetically modified hamster with exceptional intelligence. Using his wits, Hammond escaped from the Horizon Lunar Colony and traveled to Earth with his friend Winston.
Dr. Eggman is a well-known antagonist in the Sonic franchise, making numerous appearances in games and other media such as comics and films, where Jim Carrey famously portrays the character. As the main villain opposing Sonic and his friends, Dr. Eggman aims to establish a global empire by turning animals into robots called Badniks and creating war machines that threaten Earth's security. An imaginative Overwatch 2 player has merged Dr. Eggman with Blizzard's shooter through stunning fan art.
Reddit user Onframer shared a skin concept reimagining Wrecking Ball as Dr. Eggman. The design features Wrecking Ball in Dr. Eggman's iconic red, yellow, and black outfit, complete with round sunglasses and a quirky orange mustache. The mech, which Hammond originally built from an escape pod, is transformed to resemble Dr. Eggman's spaceship, reflecting the villain's color scheme. The artist cleverly stylized the mech's hook and cannons, and Dr. Eggman's trademark grin is prominently displayed on the machine's top.
The fusion of Wrecking Ball and Dr. Eggman in this Overwatch 2 skin concept is impressive. Onframer has garnered attention with their work before, such as a previous skin concept that turned Juno into Shadow the Hedgehog, incorporating references like Air Shoes and the iconic golden rings from the Sonic series. Another notable piece of fan art by Onframer transformed Tracer into Sonic the Hedgehog.
Although Overwatch 2 has not hinted at any potential collaboration with the Sonic franchise, Onframer's fan art has sparked players' imaginations about such a possibility. Blizzard has expanded its collaborations in Overwatch 2, including a crossover with One Punch-Man and a more recent partnership with Transformers. Given the Sonic series' popularity, some Overwatch 2 players are hopeful that the two franchises might officially join forces someday.
