Overwatch 2 Revamps Avoid As Teammate Feature: Up to 10 Avoid Slots Coming in Season 12!
In Overwatch 2, the Avoid As Teammate system is a popular tool among players to help them steer clear of toxic, aggressive, or incompatible team members. As Season 10 rolled in, the Overwatch 2 developers announced plans to enhance this feature significantly. These updates, slated for implementation in Season 12, aim to improve how players can manage their team interactions.
Upcoming Enhancements to the Avoid As Teammate System
Initially, the system allowed players to avoid being matched with up to three individuals. The revised system, however, expands this capacity significantly. Players will soon be able to mark up to ten players to avoid. Within this expanded list, three spots are designated as pinned slots. These pinned players remain constant on the avoid list, ensuring they are not inadvertently replaced when new names are added.
The rest of the slots will operate on a priority ladder system. This means that players lower on the list might still end up on your team, particularly in scenarios involving smaller player pools such as the higher ranks (GM or Champion) or during off-peak gaming hours. However, the likelihood of this happening remains low. As the avoid list updates, newer entries will replace the oldest non-pinned players, refreshing the avoid dynamics.
These planned changes are designed to optimize the Avoid As Teammate system, providing more flexibility and control to players across all levels. By expanding the number of avoidable players and introducing a structured replacement system, Overwatch 2 aims to make team gameplay a more positive experience for its community.
