Overwatch 2 Players Receive a Hefty Credit Bonus for Halloween Season
This week, Overwatch 2 players are in for a treat as they'll be greeted with a generous allotment of free credits to splurge on their favorite in-game goodies. While these Overwatch 2 credits won't get you those high-value items or bundles from the in-game store, nor can they unlock battle passes like Overwatch Coins, they do come in handy for acquiring smaller cosmetics such as voice lines, victory poses, sprays, and even classic Overwatch 1 skins in the Hero Gallery.
Season 7 of Overwatch 2 brings a Halloween extravaganza, though it won't be introducing a new hero to the roster. The standout feature of this season is the Diablo-inspired co-op event known as Trials of Sanctuary, where four players will join forces to "battle the darkness" in the eerie setting of Blizzard World. To further embrace the Diablo crossover and the overarching Halloween theme, this season brings exciting additions to the in-game shop, including a Diablo 4Lilith skin for Moira, an Inarius skin for Pharah, and more. Additionally, Season 7 introduces the new control map, Samoa, and delivers long-awaited overhauls for Sombra and Roadhog. Of course, fans can look forward to the annual Halloween Terror event, making its comeback in Overwatch 2 this month.
To sweeten the deal, Overwatch 2 is generously gifting players with free credits to spend as they wish. Overwatch Calvary shared on Twitter that players who log into Overwatch 2 before October 17 will receive a substantial 3,000 free credits, which can be used to purchase a range of older Overwatch skins and various cosmetic items. In the Events Shop, players can snag the Gilded Hunter Sombra skin, Brigitte's Vampire Hunter skin, Ana's Ghoul skin, and more using these credits.
This credit windfall is particularly significant since each seasonal premium battle pass typically offers 2,000 earnable credits per season. In Season 7, combining these earned credits with the extra 3,000 means players can accumulate a whopping 5,000 credits in a single season. This conveniently aligns with Sombra's highly anticipated rework, making her coveted Gilded Hunter skin an attainable goal for Overwatch players.
Overwatch 2 has a track record of rewarding its community, as seen with last year's Holiday event where Bastion's Gingerbread skin was made available for purchase in the shop for just a single Overwatch Coin. These giveaways not only entice lapsed players to return but also allow them to snag some free cosmetics just in time for Halloween. As Overwatch 2 gears up for its annual Winter Wonderland event in the next season, it remains to be seen if this generosity will continue.
