Overwatch 2 Glitch Nightmares: Players Trapped in Invisible Boxes and Battling AFK Bots
In Overwatch 2, players have encountered a peculiar bug that traps them within an invisible box, making them easy prey for the opposing team. Despite the excitement surrounding recent announcements at BlizzCon 2023, including the introduction of Mauga, a formidable tank character, players are grappling with this frustrating glitch.
Mauga, armed with two chainguns, unique abilities, and a special damage reduction/healing mechanism, has generated significant anticipation. Blizzard also revealed additional details, such as a new PvP mode, significant Battle Pass changes, and two more characters slated to join Overwatch 2 after Mauga.
For those seeking cooperative play, Blizzard introduced the Hero Mastery: Gauntlet mode, accommodating three players and incorporating Tower Defense mechanics. However, amidst these exciting developments, Overwatch 2 still grapples with issues, notably a troublesome bug that immobilizes players.
A player named Acceptable-Dress-794 captured a clip showcasing a Cassidy player trapped in an awkward, motionless position during a Competitive match on the Colosseo map. The character model appears stuck, seemingly pressed against the sides of an invisible wall, incessantly spamming Cassidy's roll ability. Attempts to intervene, such as Wrecking Ball rolling into the trapped player, prove futile. As the enemy team advances, the immobilized Cassidy becomes an easy target.
Interestingly, this bug appears to be more than an isolated incident, with numerous comments attesting to similar experiences. It seems to manifest at a specific 1-pixel location on the Colosseo map as players traverse this particular spot. Suggestions in the comments propose removing the complex geometry in this area and replacing it with a flat surface. In the meantime, some players with specific characters and movement abilities, such as Lifeweaver or Mei, may provide assistance in freeing the trapped player.
In addition to the immobilization bug, Overwatch 2 players are grappling with another issue in competitive matches – encountering teams comprised of bot-controlled accounts. The rise of these AFK bots is causing frustration among legitimate players, drawing parallels to similar challenges faced in games like Team Fortress 2.
