Mastercard's expansion into LEC continues the company's growing relationship with game developer Riot Games. In addition to sponsoring European Regional League NLC competitions, Mastercard partners with companies such as LCS, CBLOL and the League of Legends World Championship.

Zeynep Genkaga, Senior Business Development & Partnerships Manager, Europe and MENA: "Mastercard has become a staple product when it comes to partnerships in League of Legends, and we are delighted to have them join the LEC family."

The finance company joins LEC's growing roster of commercial partners, which includes well-known names such as KitKat, KIA and Red Bull. Note that the Summer Playoffs of the LEC will kick off on August 13, when six teams will battle it out for the chance to become crowned champion and qualify for the 2021 World Championship.
