Riot Games closes Sydney office
Now the LoL Oceanic Pro League has been closed along with the Riot Games office in Australia. The main reason for this action was named the fact that Riot Games failed to make this project commercially successful.
Regardless, Riot Games wants to continue to support Australian players and esports players from the region as a whole. The LCS has a rule prohibiting recruiting more than two foreigners to a team. To support eSports players from Oceania countries, Riot Games decided not to extend this rule to players from this region. In addition, the division will not be deprived of the qualifying process for the largest championships in the League of Legends, Mid-Season Invitational and World Championship.
The act of Riot Games cannot be called hasty, since the Oceanic Pro League was founded five years ago. During this time, the Chiefs eSports Club and Dire Wolves were able to earn the largest number of victories. Legacy eSports, who won the league's final split in Oceania, finished 17-18 in the 2020 World Championship.
