Riot Tests In-Game Coach Communication for LCK and LCP Matches

Riot Games has announced plans to test a new in-game coach communication feature during LCP Split 1 and the LCK Cup in League of Legends. The feature aims to allow limited, regulated communication between coaches and players directly during official matches.

LCK

In the LCK, coaches will be permitted to speak with their team up to three times per series, with each communication period capped at 45 seconds. All requests to initiate communication must follow strict procedures to avoid disrupting gameplay.

During these 45-second intervals, up to two staff members — including managers, coaches, or analysts — may communicate with the players. They are prohibited from contacting anyone outside the team until the match concludes.Coaches will also be limited to viewing only what players see on their client screens, with no access to full spectator mode.

Participation in the Coach Voice test is optional, but teams must confirm whether they intend to use the feature before each match.

LCP

The LCP will follow a similar structure: coaches may speak with their team three times per game, each lasting 45 seconds. However, each team must select a single staff member before the match who will be authorized to communicate with the players.
