The strike in LCS has ended - the players' association has reached an agreement with Riot Games

Great news for League of Legends fans! The LCSPA (League of Legends Championship Series Players Association) has reached an agreement with Riot Games, bringing an end to the strike among participants of the North American league. The summer season will commence on June 14th and will span six weeks, with matches taking place on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

While some initial demands that aimed to provide players with a clearer understanding of their career path from amateur leagues to the LCS were not included in the agreement, the parties have managed to achieve several important agreements:

  1. Riot Games will allocate an additional $300,000 to be divided among the ten teams in the NACL (North American Collegiate League). This money will go towards increasing player compensation for the remainder of the season.
  2. 50% of all future revenues from NACL sponsors will be directed towards supporting participants in the league.
  3. By 2024, teams must adhere to specific minimum standards to be eligible for a share of Riot Games' revenue.
  4. A 30-day severance pay will be provided to players who are unjustifiably released and earn 1.5 times the minimum salary in the league. Players competing on a visa will be given a 15-day notice prior to their termination.
  5. Players and teams will collaboratively determine any changes to training schedules and have equal representation in the committee.
  6. All foreign players will be entitled to mandatory medical coverage upon their arrival in the United States.
  7. Riot Games and LCSPA will sign a "Memorandum of Understanding" to enhance cooperation between the parties.

In late May, LCSPA announced a strike in the LCS due to new rules implemented by Riot Games regarding the amateur league. As a result of the strike, the summer season was delayed by two weeks. However, now fans can look forward to the resumption of competitions and enjoy watching their favorite teams once again!
