A Continued Evolution of Halo Infinite

Since its launch over three years ago, Halo Infinite has undergone numerous updates, shifting to an Operations-based model for content releases. Despite early controversies, the game has consistently received fresh content, including new maps, modes, and additional gameplay features. With this latest update, the developers aim to kick off 2025 with a significant expansion of the game’s multiplayer experience.

Operation: Frontlines & Updated Pass System

The Halo Infinite Spring Update brings a massive set of patch notes, with Operation: Frontlines being one of its most exciting additions. The updated Operation Pass has evolved based on player feedback, now offering both free and premium progression tracks. The free tier includes 20 levels of unlockable content, while the Premium Pass extends to 50 tiers, featuring an ODST-themed progression path. Notably, purchasing the Premium Pass grants instant access to the BR75A2 Hammer weapon model for the BR75 Battle Rifle, among other immediate rewards.

New Weapon: Fuel Rod SPNKr

A major gameplay addition in this update is the introduction of the Fuel Rod SPNKr, a hybrid weapon combining elements of the classic Fuel Rod Cannon and the SPNKr rocket launcher. While some fans have debated its design, the Fuel Rod SPNKr serves as an additional power weapon for multiplayer matches. According to the developers, it is a semi-automatic launcher with a faster fire rate than the M41 Rocket Launcher and a six-projectile capacity, making it a formidable addition to the game’s arsenal.

Classic Halo Mode Returns: Assault

The update also reintroduces a fan-favorite mode from Halo 2: Assault. This mode pits two teams of four players against each other, tasking them with planting a bomb in the enemy base. Halo Infinite players can now access dedicated Assault playlists, including Neutral Bomb and One Bomb variants. Additionally, the Squad Battle: Assault playlist features larger-scale matches on specific Squad Battle maps. However, these playlists will only be available for a limited time, disappearing from matchmaking on March 11, 2025.

More Multiplayer Enhancements and a New Forge Map

Beyond the new Operation Pass, weapon, and game mode, the Spring Update also brings a variety of balance adjustments to multiplayer gameplay. Additionally, a new Forge-created map, Origin, has been introduced. Inspired by Halo 5’s Coliseum, this map offers a fresh battleground for players to explore. The update also includes numerous bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, enhancing the overall gaming experience.

With these changes, Halo Infinite continues to evolve, keeping players engaged as they await further news on the future of the Halo franchise.
