The deal became known to The Gamer. Following the deal, Ruffian Games was renamed Rockstar Dundee.

Ruffian Games was best known for making Crackdown 2. This is the studio's biggest project, and in recent years the team has helped third-party game developers develop games. These included Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Kinect Star Wars, and others.

Rockstar started looking for new staff much earlier. Already last year, the authors of GTA V were looking for specialists who will help the company develop multiplayer projects for PS4, Xbox One, PC and next-generation consoles. Presumably Rockstar Dundee will do this.

Rockstar is currently busy porting Grand Theft Auto V to PS5 and Xbox Series. Also earlier this year, media reported that the studio is in the very early stages of production for the next installment of the legendary series.
