Persona: Be Your True Mind Remake Is Rumored to Be in Development

As is well known, Atlus is officially working on a Persona 4 remake, subtitled Revival, which will release next year. However, a recent leak appears to confirm that another remake based on the franchise is in development.

A Reddit user named Dastanovich posted a video that is believed to show a remake of the first Persona game, Be Your True Mind—also known as Revelations: Persona and Megami Ibunroku Persona—which was released in 1996. In the video below, along with the first details, you can spot familiar characters—including Eriko Kirishima, as well as Tatsuya Suou, the protagonist of Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. His presence has left fans puzzled, but perhaps he is simply standing in for a character model that isn’t ready yet. Additionally, the animations—which resemble those seen in Persona 4 Revival—along with the music, visual effects, and visual style, all point to the authenticity of this leak.

  • Tatsuya (P2 Innocent Sin protagonist) seems to be a stand-in for Masao
  • P1 Protagonist is referred to as "Boy With Earring" (like in P2 Eternal Punishment)
  • UE debug text in top-left during battle (ATLUS switched to UE with P3R)
  • New remix of Pandora theme playing (PSX OST confirmed instead of PSP)
  • P1 Protagonist keeps the black upper lip from OG (Kazuma Kaneko staple)
  • Eri's UI has the "Persona" prompt (everyone is still a Wild Card)
  • She also seems to reuse Yukiko's summon animation (more credibility)

Atlus may indeed be working on a remake of the original Persona, given the reaction to Persona 3 Reload and the release of the aforementioned Persona 4 Revival next year. Furthermore, Kazuhisa Wada, the producer of the Persona 4 remake, has already stated in an interview with GamerBraves that remakes of the first and second games are necessary.

As for the already confirmed titles, Persona 4 Revival will release on February 18, 2027, for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, while Nintendo Switch 2 owners will have to wait until May 20 of that year. Persona 6, which was announced this summer, is also in development but does not yet have a release date. Netflix is developing a series based on the franchise, with Christopher Monfette serving as its writer, showrunner, and executive producer.
