Mass Effect Actors Calling to Sign the Petition and Save the Franchise

Discussions about BioWare’s future continue after its closure and the cancellation of Mass Effect 5, which Electronic Arts confirmed last week. Fans are flooding social media with posts calling for the franchise to be saved, and they have support from people who helped bring the series to life, or more precisely, lent it their voices.

We’re talking about Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer, the voice actors for the female and male versions of Shepard in the Mass Effect trilogy. It started when Hale replied to a post by franchise insider Dantics about the Mass Effect: Universe trailer, writing that she is “holding hope for magic to happen.” She then went live on Instagram, where Meer joined her, and the stream can still be watched as a recording. Together they talked about BioWare’s closure and the cancellation of Mass Effect 5, calling it an incredible loss for everyone. The actors later posted on X, urging people to sign the petition to save Mass Effect.

Mass Effect trilogy lead voice actors Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale (male and female Shepard) are both supporting #SaveMassEffect

Much respect for sticking with the legendary trilogy and the fans after all these year, and thank you for giving us the best RPG, the best space game and the best trilogy ever.

The #SaveMassEffect petition has already gathered more than 200,000 signatures, which is impressive for just a few days. According to available information, Mass Effect: Universe was an extremely large and ambitious project. The story centered on an intergalactic Cold War set about 600 years after the ending of Mass Effect 3, with Shepard’s legacy intact regardless of the ending. The developers also planned to let players create alternative timelines based on all the choices made in the original trilogy, which would have given each player a unique experience.
