GTA 6 Breaks Pre-Order Records—Fresh Data Released
There’s less than a month left until the release of GTA 6, and players’ anticipation is growing stronger by the day. Plenty of them are almost certain that Rockstar Games’ new project will break quite a few records—especially financial ones—and a new analysis is only reinforcing that confidence.
GamesIndustry shared the latest update, citing revised estimates from Sensor Tower. According to their data, GTA 6 pre-orders are already approaching the 6.5 million mark (6.45 million as of now), and the report states that 6.08 million of those are digital copies in the U.S. This source also compared the game’s figures with recent releases—and this comparison highlights just how highly anticipated GTA 6 is relative to other titles. A telling example is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, released in 2022, which was one of the most financially successful games. As GamesIndustry reports, GTA 6 pre-orders are 148% higher than those of the shooter, not to mention other games on the list, such as Diablo 4, Hogwarts Legacy, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. It’s also reported that the game has already generated about $600 million in revenue—and there’s still a month to go before its release.
Sensor Tower data shows just how far ahead GTA 6 is compared with other major releases.
- 6.08 million digital pre-orders in the US
- Around $594 million in pre-launch revenue
- 148% ahead of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 at the same point before release
- 74% of pre-orders are on PlayStation
- 26% are on Xbox
The figures come from Sensor Tower and only cover US digital pre-orders, so they don’t represent GTA 6’s total global sales.
Nevertheless, it’s worth noting these aren’t official numbers that Rockstar Games or Take-Two have yet disclosed—and the final results may differ. But it’s clear that as the release date approaches, GTA 6’s financial performance will only continue to grow, and its launch will likely be the biggest in gaming history.
Grand Theft Auto VI launches in one month, on November 19, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar hasn’t announced a PC version yet, but a recent report claims the game will come to the platform in the first quarter of 2027.
