No Man’s Sky Is Coming to iPhone and iPad on October

Hello Games has announced that the space sim No Man’s Sky will launch on iPhone and iPad on October 28, 2026. The announcement came as part of App Store Indie Games Week, and pre-orders are already open on the App Store.

According to the announcement, the mobile version will be partially free. Players can try the game for free, but unlocking the full version will cost $19.99. The developers managed to compress the game to under 5 GB, even though the current PC version takes up 31 GB. The list of compatible iPhone and iPad models hasn’t been announced yet.

The mobile version will include all the content added to the game over the years, including the COSMOS and Voyagers updates. The developers built new touch controls for phones and tablets. You’ll also be able to play with a controller, and on iPad with a mouse and keyboard, or cast the game to a TV.

There are some limitations, though, as some features won’t be available at launch. The mobile version won’t support multiplayer, and settlements will also be missing.

Hello Games has been hinting at a mobile release for a long time. When No Man’s Sky came to Mac in 2023, studio founder Sean Murray explained that bringing the game to a new platform means thinking about a new interface and battery life. He also said that moving to Apple’s Metal technology was only part of a bigger plan, which pointed to a future mobile release - “Just our next step in a longer journey".

No Man’s Sky launched in 2016 and, despite its disastrous start, became one of the best-known examples of a game being fixed after release. Over ten years, Hello Games has released dozens of free updates that added multiplayer, base building, freighters, settlements, and much more, and today the game is considered one of the best space sandboxes.
