Nolan North Wants to Return as Nathan Drake in Uncharted 5 and Thinks It Could Be “One of the Biggest Games”

News recently broke that Naughty Dog has begun work on a new Uncharted installment. The studio has not officially confirmed anything, as its current priority is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, their new IP. That said, the actor who played the lead role in the Uncharted games has stated he is ready to reprise his character.

This is about Nolan North, the voice actor of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted game series. Recently, GRYOnline published an interview with the actor, recorded in late August, in which he was asked what he thinks about a potential Uncharted 5. According to North, it could be “one of the biggest games in history,” and he’d be happy to return to the role of Nathan Drake, as you can check out his words below:

“Definitely, I’m ready to return to the role, 110%. I think if they had decided to do so, it would have been one of the biggest games in history. It all depends on whether Sony wants to make money. I try to keep in shape—just in case. That would be the biggest announcement in the gaming world.”

It's hard to disagree with North. Released in 2016, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End became one of the best games in the action-adventure genre, delivering an incredible story and making a real technological leap by taking full advantage of the PlayStation 4's capabilities. Details have also recently emerged about the game's original concept, from when Amy Hennig was leading development.

As for the new Uncharted video game, MP1st recently shared an exclusive report stating Naughty Dog has started developing the new title. They also confirmed Nathan Drake will be involved—though it’s unclear whether he’ll be the main character, a supporting one, or just make a cameo appearance. So, perhaps Nolan North is already aware of the new game, and he’s not allowed to say more.

Further, MP1st added that the new Uncharted will release after Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a new IP from Naughty Dog, but before The Last of Us Part III. As is well known, the studio recently confirmed the presentation of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will take place next year, as well as new The Last of Us projects that are currently in development. In any case, don’t expect an announcement of the new Uncharted entry anytime soon.
