Rumor: Sony Plans to Revive Its Old Franchises, Including Killzone, Sly Cooper, and Ape Escape
Sony may bring several of its long-forgotten series back to life. According to an insider on the ResetEra forum, the company is already accepting pitches from external studios for new games based on its franchises, including Killzone, Sly Cooper, and Ape Escape.

According to the source, the new projects won't be developed by PlayStation's internal studios but by external teams. Under this arrangement, Sony would fund and publish the games through PlayStation Studios. Some of them may be developed with the support or supervision of the studios that worked on the original games. As an example, the insider named Killzone, which was previously developed by Guerrilla Games.
It's worth noting that the source of the rumor has had successful leaks in the past. They were the one who previously revealed the 2D God of War game Sons of Sparta, which was later officially announced. In addition, their claims match what well-known insider NateTheHate said earlier. When asked about the return of Ape Escape, he stated:"Sony is looking to bring back some dormant franchises."

For PlayStation fans, this news would be a real treat. None of the three series has received a new entry in more than ten years. Killzone was once PlayStation's flagship shooter, while Sly Cooper and Ape Escape were among the most popular platformers of the PS2 era, but Sony eventually all but abandoned these franchises.
Sony hasn't officially commented on these rumors, so for now, the information should be taken with caution. We would also like to remind you that the company is currently in talks to produce a Battlefield movie.
