A stable internet connection is required to play Godfall
In anticipation of the release of the new Godfall title on PC and PS5, developers from Conterplay Games have shared a bit of information on their project. So, for example, those wishing to try out a new looter slasher will need a permanent Internet connection.
At the beginning, this information was found on the game page in the PS Store, and later the developers confirmed its relevance on Twitter. On top of that, anyone looking to play multiplayer on PS5 will need a PS Plus subscription. However, the developers have emphasized that Godfall will not become a regular game-service. There are no plans to add microtransactions to the game.
The truth for what, then, a permanent Internet connection is not entirely clear. Probably, the creators want to control the loot system in this way. It is known that online co-op will be available in Godfall, but without PVP modes.
